    Dear Colleagues,

We hope you will join us for this interactive teleseminar.  Lori
Lambert will provide a deeper understanding of Native Ways of Knowing
and her work with Native and Indigenous students.  Included will be a
discussion of her strategies that create a safe learning environment,
stimulate motivation, embed cultural content, and build relationships.
You will discover ways you can embed these engaging strategies and
approaches in your team based learning courses.

You will have an opportunity to send in questions and comments.  You
can join us at your desk, in your car, or from home or other
locations...all from your phone.  No internet connection is
necessary.  This session will be recorded and the audio file sent to
those who register following the teleseminar .  The fee is $45 and
group rates are available by contacting Nancy Fire
([log in to unmask]).  Instructions for connecting to the
teleconference will be sent along with a handout and resources after
you have registered.

Please share this announcement with faculty or staff who work with
Native and/or Indigenous students or have an interest in culturally
responsive teaching.  We highly recommend this session for all who
are seeking to promote success of Native or Indigenous students!

How can faculty and teachers ignite the fire that burns within every
Native student? Our presenter, Dr. Lori Lambert is a master of
instructional strategies designed to help motivate Native students and
discover their passion for further
learning.

She is known as the “mother of online learning” at Salish
Kootenai College in Montana, beginning her work with Native students
online before many universities were aware of online learning. Her
strategies were engaging and supportive and her students succeeded!

In the “safe” learning space she creates, she approaches each
student “mind to mind’ and builds nurturing relationships with
each. She uses Native Ways of
Knowing strategies to express content. This involves including
Indigenous content in courses where students explore their own tribal
history. She encourages her
students to apply what they have learned in the formal learning
environment to their own lives and professions

Join us in this upcoming April 20th teleseminar to talk with other
faculty and Lori about learning strategies that facilitate Native
students to:

	* Increase their capacity to contribute to the Native community
	* Use their own ways of learning to develop self-reliance and
self-determination
	* Develop higher levels of understanding
	* Develop knowledge about themselves.
