Donna,

Here's what I do:

If a student misses the quiz, she gets a zero for the iRAT, but gets the
tRAT score. I also drop the lowest iRAT score. (I got tired of having to
decide if the student had a valid reason for missing the iRAT; now I
rarely, if ever, have to make that decision.)
