Hi Katie,
Here at VIU we advocate letting students decide what the criteria will be. It's a great first team task, and it really sets the tone that students will "own" the classroom.

1. e.g., start by providing an example or two on the overhead of "helping behaviour."

2. Then give them 5 minutes in their new teams to make a list of up to 5 items, based on what THEY value. They always come up with the same thing the instructor would prefer (come on time, be prepared, etc.

3. Then send a rep from each team with the authority to establish, in an executive council, what the final 5 will be, which then go on the rubric, which is pasted into the front of their team folders.

Works every time.
Bill

Subject: Seeking Team-work Peer evaluation grading rubric

Hello,

I'm a Lecturer with the Department of Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy at UBC and am currently teaching a course in program development using TBL for our Master of Occupational Therapy students.

I'm looking to revamp the peer evaluation form that was previously used. Specifically, I'd like about 5 items (i.e. not too long) and a straightforward rubric to share with students.

I'd appreciate any sharing of evaluation forms and rubrics you've found useful.

Thank you in advance.

Best,
Katie
