When conducting quality assessment of test items, does anyone have references for when to discard distractor options that are discarded too easily. I have not found any consistent information on this.

We have a student group of around 350 students this year and were considering discarding response alternatives if they were selected by <3% of the students. Does this sound a reasonable threshold?

Best wishes

Jenny
