Hi

You could either use google forms to populate values or let them enter straight onto sheet

With a simple sheet I would probably let them enter directly onto sheet….with a more complicated sheet with calculated columns and pretty formatting I would use google forms to protect the sheet

Hi Jim,

This is a helpful tip. So do you have students post into a Google Form and then that is collected into a Google Sheet which then is shared once team answers have been collected?

Hi

Here is how we use Google docs….the instructor prepares a sheet before class (this sheet even has calculated columns) instructor then posts google sheet URL and students type in the in their answers…and when instructor finally display sheet it acts as the simultaneous reveal

Dear Amy

Today is our last day before spring break and who knows if we'll come back together after that so here's what I'm doing.

  * introducing students to google docs so they can create items for a gallery walk together.

  *   introducing them to ZOOM

  * introducing them to google hangouts just for chatting in general without the set up of zoom.

  * creating a google form to ask students about access to wifi, laptops, their three major concerns about shifting to online etc.

There's a new fb page for folks called "Remote Teaching Resource Group" that has folks saying what they are planning but interesting updates of software etc. I noticed a message about making ZOOM more accessible during this challenging time. So, this might be a place to come back to as we all work this out.

Hi, everyone --

What are some of the best resources, tools, and advice available to TBL instructors teaching in-person classes who will (or might) need to move their courses online?

In particular, I'm curious about:

1) how TRATs can be done online/virtually

2) the best videoconferencing tools (or other tools) to facilitate TRATs, team discussions, full-class discussions, and application activities in "real time"

3) technologies or methods to enable students to do presentations of team-based assignments that would otherwise happen in person.

Currently, I am using Canvas to provide content (PDFs/videos), collect and assess written assignments, and record grades in my TBL class. But we meet in person 2x/week, during which we do RATs, application activities, team projects, etc. How do I move those activities online?

Many thanks for your guidance and advice,

Amy Hughes
