Actually, you can limit the ability of others to write over what the author
of a G.Doc has written.
I used G.Docs in an online course last winter. When you give access
to someone else, you have a choice of whether to give them (a) *viewing
access* which includes posting comments but not editing the original
document, or (b) *editing access* which does allow them to re-write the
original document.
