Hi Michael,

That exercise was based on material created by Boyd Richards and presented in a workshop at a AAMC meeting several years ago. I adapted it into a TBL session I offer about educational scholarship. I have versions for medical education, interprofessional health sciences education, and for non-health sciences education. I don’t know if I can find the originals I got from Boyd years ago … I copied Boyd on this reply, in the hope that he might be able to provide more information.

Subject: Scholarly Teaching vs SoTL examples

Friends,

At a Scholarship Track session of the TBL conference in recent years, there was a lovely “make a specific choice” exercise in which we had to come to consensus on whether various mini-scenarios counted as “Good Teaching” or “Scholarly Teaching” or “Scholarship of Teaching and Learning.”

I’d love to get a reference for those materials, if anyone has one. Help a guy out?
