Hey my name is Scott Kubista-Hovis. I am a 7th grade Life Science Teacher and I have been using Team based learning for 2 years. It's as amazing as everyone says. It dramatically increased the performance of my lowest achievers. And students remember the material 3 to 9 months latter!
I posted one life science activity that I've used at: http://groups.google.com/group/tbl_k-12?lnk=
[log in to unmask] is another HS teacher interested in the technique. You might want to drop him a line.
I can answer any questions that you have as well.

Hello,
I just recently joined this listserve, so I don't know who makes up the members of this list. Sorry if I repeat something you have already discussed.
I am a high school chemistry teacher. Are most of you college professors?
I will admit that I didn't know anything about TBL until last month when I saw a post on the chem-ed list by Richard Hake. I was intrigued by the name "Team-based learning" so I immediately read the article in the NY Times.. I then purchased and read the book Team Based Learning, A Transformative Use of Small Groups in College Teaching.
Last night, however, I watched the TBL podcast listed on http://www.teambased.org/ and things really started to make sense. If you are new to TBL and have any questions, I think you will find it very informative.
A few of my many questions:
1. Do you know of anyone using TBL at the high school level?
2. Is anyone here a chemistry teacher/professor? I really need to see an in-class team activity.
3. I have many specific questions. Should I "clutter" the list with them? Or maybe I can talk with one person specifically.
Thanks for your time.
