Genevieve,

Much of how you would set this up depends on the teachers who will be in the session. If they are very diverse, you might stick to applications that focus on teaching in general, perhaps using Bloom's Taxonomy. If they are in the medical field, you might work on a basic medical application that might mirror how they would use TBL. I would be happy bounce some ideas back and forth, if you would like.

Key questions:

What is your main goal?

Who is the audience? Number, background, experiences

How much time do you have?

Is this a single session, or do you have multiple meetings?

You might check out some of the modules available at the Team-Based Learning Collaborative website (https://teambasedlearning.site-ym.com/page/resouce_portal)

. There are 5 on TBL Course Management.

I hope this helps!

The Team-based learning Collaborative (https://www.teambasedlearning.org/) offers basic workshops that use TBL to introduce faculty to the basics of TBL. The educational development committee chair (Cortny Williams, [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>) might help you identify some useful application questions that have worked for many people, or arrange an online workshop for your faculty.

Subject: Teaching TBL with TBL!

- External Email -

Hi all,

I am teaching nephrology with TBL x 2013.

I have been ask to explain what is TBL to a group of teachers.

I therefore would like to prepare a lesson about TBL, using the TBL method for that lesson.

I have ideas for IRAT and TRAT.

However, for the application exercices, I am not sure what to do.

For that part, I don't have enough time to ask them to prepare a TBL lesson or to ask them to teach a TBL lesson that is already prepared.

Any other suggestion for the application exercices?

Many thanks,

Geneviève Benoit
