Dear TBL Colleagues,

The Vancouver Island Team-Based Learning Institute is back! We’re pleased to let you know that we are picking up where we left off when we were so abruptly interrupted in 2020.

If you are aware of colleagues at your institution who are looking for an experiential opportunity to learn TBL, and who would thrive in doing so while working collaboratively with other faculty members, we invite you to share this announcement with them. Fees are modest, set for cost recovery only. Our one goal is the promotion of transformative TBL practices.

What: 2022 Vancouver Island Team-Based Learning Institute. (The TBL Institute is a small format gathering, providing a hands-on learning experience for faculty wishing to adopt the TBL Model as presented by Michaelsen, Knight and Fink in Team-Based Learning: A Transformative Use of Small Groups)

When: August 9-10-11, 2022

Where: The campus of Vancouver Island University in Nanaimo, BC

Imagine a classroom where…students always come prepared because they know that their contributions during in-class assignments will be consequential. They know they’ll be expected to participate, and they know their peers will be there to work with them. They look forward to class because they own the learning objectives and process.

Tine Reimers and Bill Roberson of Vancouver Island University, and Jim Sibley of University of British Columbia will be your hosts and facilitators for the 2022 Vancouver Island Team-Based Learning Institute.
