Greetings everyone, I am currently facilitating a team-based learning faculty learning community <https://miamioh.edu/cte/faculty-staff/flcs/current-communities/tbl/index.html> here at Miami University in Ohio. In these learning communities, a cohort of faculty/staff engage in collaborative learning to enhance teaching and learning in the classroom. Hence, we have many future TBL'ers! One consistent theme thus far is how to "sell" TBL to our international students, but also how to engage them with TBL and its components (e.g., in-class applications, peer evaluations). There was a lot of discussion around cultural differences between education here and abroad and possible challenges with disciplinary-specific language and language skills more generally. Do you all have any advice and/or TBL suggested readings that would be informative for those faculty/staff who have classroom environments with domestic and international students or classrooms consisting of all international students (e.g., English as a second language classrooms)? Any advice/help is appreciated as we delve in to TBL and how to bolster international student participation and TBL "buy in." Sincerely, Kristen -- *Kristen M.
