Hi Stephanie,

We are doing the same thing (BB-to-Canvas migration), and I have a large biochemistry class to contend with. I have not used Canvas for RAP, so I have no advice there; also, our Canvas is not integrated with iPeer, so that is also problematic. However, I have a suggestion for the team marks. I keep my gradebook in Excel, where I can filter and sort to my heart’s content. I download the .csv file from Canvas, copy-and-paste the values from Excel, and re-upload the marks to Canvas. I sort the class lists by student ID number before pasting a column of numbers because of a peculiarity of Canvas: it does a weird alphabetization based on last names--sort of. Students’ entire names are in one cell/data field on Canvas, and I suspect it takes the last “word” as the last name. It does not do well, for instance, with last names including spaces like “van den XXX”, which are sorted on the “XXX”. I missed this the first time I uploaded grades and had to do some explaining...

I hope this is useful, and I would be interested to see how others work with Canvas, especially for RAP and peer evaluations!

Best regards, and have fun with Canvas!
Richard

Subject: TBL in Canvas

Hello, TBLers!

My institution is migrating from BB to Canvas and we¹re doing it at warp speed.

I have colleagues who are looking for resources on how to facilitate the RAP via Canvas. Can anyone provide "how to" links or soft copy

resources?

Also, does anyone have a workaround for this issue: “You cannot filter the grade book by group. You can apply a grade for a group assignment to everyone in the group, but if people were absent you have to go in and manually remove the grades (or enter grades by hand for everyone, a real drawback for a big class.)"

Thanks a bunch!
