Subject: Great TedTalk about team work and the production of social capital PERFECT for TBL students
Dear Colleagues,
I just gave out midterm grades including i-RATs which were, on-the-whole good. But about 10-15 folks in a class of 87, who were getting a grade below a C. The class is an introductory,
general education class in the US higher education system. It's a class folks need but don't always want as its not in their major field of study.
So, I was looking for something to re-invigorate folks and thinking about the power of teams. I just stumbled on a brilliant TedTalk by Margaret Heffernam called:
(talks about the super chicken theory of business). But, more importantly, it sums up all the things TBLers believe about the power of teamwork
in a way that connects it to the world of work.
It's a larger reflection on the creation of social capital in the workplace and focuses on the role of productive teams verses the focus on the individual "star" in companies.
