Thanks Candice for posting these for her.  I, too, used it last summer with an undergraduate class as a trial run.  So this semester, I am using it with a full semester graduate Organizational Behavior class.  Candice, I believe you meet with the online through webcams.  I’m trying no webcam with me this semester and just allowing the teams manage themselves regarding how they do the tRAT.  Some of the teams are choosing to meet in their DSL Collaborate Team Room while others are doing the tRAT in the discussion thread.

I think we need to write a paper Candice.  I need to gather some data from this graduate class—Not sure could do a pre and post test.  But would love to get a research article since it doesn’t appear many articles have been written about this methodology for on-line audiences.

Hi Judi,

Here are the articles that I know about on using TBL online:

Hosier, A. (2013). Using team-based learning in an online, asynchronous information literacy course. Journal of Library Innovation, 4(2), 111-121.

Palsole, S., & Awalt, C. (2008). Team-based learning in asynchronous online settings. New Directions for Teaching and Learning, 2008(116), 87-95.

A graduate thesis/dissertation:

Barclay, M. W. (2011).  The impact of team-based learning’s readiness assurance process on virtually isolated adults.  Utah State University Digital Commons.

Also, if you look in this list’s archives, you can see a post from me this past summer on how I used TBL, the whole kit and caboodle (grin), in my online class.

I know that there are people who are using TBL in their on-line courses - not just for i-RAT testing, but for team-work - the whole kit and kaboodle. How can I learn more?

Thanks!

Judi
