Thank you so much for your quick response and all the links. I will read up
on it. I'm teaching a summer class online where I have previously only
taught it face-to-face. So I wasn't sure how to start the process. Now I
have a roadmap!

Hi

I haven't used it online.but got asked about this last week

Here was my reply

#########################

There are a number of people using TBL online..I am no expert..I have not
done it myself.but here is what I have heard

Obviously the IRAT is simple to do online

The TRAT is often done over a series of days in asynchronous private team
discussion forum.then results submitted to instructor (would be a whole
variety of ways to do this).often the RAT questions are a bit more
challenging than F2F

The intra-team part of Applications are also done in asynchronous private
team discussion forum.then decision is submitted to instructor by a specific
time/date..the instructor then posts them simultaneously to public
discussion forum.then often there are specific rules about how much
post-reporting engagement you require from each student..maybe 1 post
challenging some teams decision.1 post connecting 2 teams rationales for a
decision.and 1 additional resources to support or discount a teams decision

This is what I have heard...

There are articles out there on this..

But I will point you at

Hi All:

I wondered if anyone was using Team-based learning for classes delivered on
line? If so, how do you do the readiness assessments?

Subject: Rubric to determine effectiveness of TBL before delivery

Dear List,

I am working with Amy Lin and Abbas Hyderi here in Chicago on developing a
rubric to determine the effectiveness of a TBL before it is delivered. We
did hear from Paul Koles who referred us to a document he has on designing a
TBL module, though it's not in rubric format.

There does not seem to be anything in the literature about using rubrics in
this way, yet it is likely that institutions have come up with their own
rubrics for this purpose. Do any of you know of any repository that might
include examples of such rubrics or contacts who have developed rubrics that
we could reach out to, or perhaps one of you has created one already?

Thanks and look forward to your feedback,

Max Anderson
