Yes, please! If anyone has used TBL in an online management system (Blackboard, D2L, whatever!), please share your experience. I am mostly teaching online now and have been mulling over a few things since the conference. I’d love to discuss this with others who are in this process! J

Thanks for sharing this again Larry.

A question for the group. Has anybody tried to set this up on Blackboard or another LMS? What have been your experiences?

Thanks

Jenny,

I've been using confidence testing with machine scored answer sheets for many years. I'm attaching a PowerPoint that I use to show students how to do confidence marking with Scantron answer sheets. Slides 12-16 show how it works with a Scantron answer sheet. If you do it that way, you number you questions in blocks (i.e., the first question would be numbered 1-4' the second question 5-8, etc.) and explain to students that each question must be answered four times...as though it was 4 separate questions. Their score would be from 0-4 depending on how many of their marks are the same as the answer key.

If you have questions, let me know.

Larry

Dear all

We currently use Larry's marking system whereby students can assign 4 points across the four response options thereby rewarding proximate knowledge.  However it has not been possible to find a scanning system that can cope with this approach.

The attached is an example of confidence marking and I would welcome advice from those who have used this as to whether this is better than correct/incorrect.  We are keen to avoid negative marking.

Best wishes

Jenny
