People who know about TBL often find it helpful to also know about
learning-centered course design. Larry and I discovered this when we
worked together at Oklahoma.

Good course design provides a strong course structure that will enhance
both the effectiveness of TBL and your ability to articulate why TBL is so
important. Some of the ways good course design does this is as follows:

   - Having a good set of *learning goals* (or outcomes) gives a focused
   purpose to the course.
   - Having a good understanding of the importance of *interactive learning
activities* and *educative assessment* explains why many of the TBL
   features are so important.
   - The role of a good *teaching strategy*, like TBL, is essential in
creating a high level of integration in any course.

If this is something you might be interested in doing, I am offering a
National Workshop on Course Design that will be held in Chicago, *May
21-23, 2013.
