We have had this problem.. went to "Desktags"... put their names on half-sheet of paper (lengthwise), fold it over: It stands on their desks. We require everyone to put them on their desks the first few weeks (which also expedites our getting to know them: We also take a digital picture of each student with their Desktag during the first class, tagging this to an "interests" survey, also facilitating us getting to know them better).

After the first few weeks of doing this (we also collect the Tags and redistribute them the first few weeks, else they vanish!), they come to know their Team Member names.

Cheers!

question (or maybe just venting)

Hi everyone,

I am having my students do their team evaluations online (using a form
in Blackboard), due by midnight tonight. In the last few hours, there
have been three emails from students, sent through Blackboard to the
whole class, asking for their teammates to please respond with all
their names! These are not students who have been absent a ton so I am
bewildered how they went through the entire semester without learning
their teammates names. Has anyone else seen this sort of thing, or are
my students just bizarrely lacking in social skills?!?

Jennifer
