Hi again,
At the ISU College of Veterinary Medicine, our Office of Assessment supports my course by administering an online survey that we email out as a link at midterm (not for credit, for feedback only) and again right before finals (this time for credit-the students determine the grade weight of the peer evaluation at the beginning of the semester). The Office of Assessment sends the feedback by email to each student. I have not had problems with nasty comments. In fact, I love to read them because they are constructive ("come to class!" or "please speak up, we really do want to hear your ideas") but mostly they are highly supportive and encouraging.
Best wishes,
Holly

Speaking of team evaluations . . .

How do most people handle them? Do you provide feedback for all
students or only those who ask for team comments? Do you give hard
copies or only report results orally? Do you edit in any way (e.g.,
obvious spelling errors, redact especially mean-spirited comments,
etc.)?

Thanks.

Tim

Gang,

As the term comes screeching to a close, I thought it might be nice
to share an out-of-the-blue e-mail I just got from a first-time TBL
user:

"Dear Michael,
I loved the team evaluations. Students were very tactful and funny.
It doesn't get any better when a student tells another student that
they need to come to class more often!"

I know, it's nothing earth-shattering for those of us in the TBL
world, but amidst all the grind and groan of the usual resistance,
sometimes the quiet but cheerful energy of the newly-converted can
put a little spring back into one's step.
