The Value of Teams Survey was from the Baylor site. The STROBE was one, and there was at least one other, as I recall. That site looks like it's gone now. Does anyone out there still have access to those? My research has been on the effectiveness of teams and how the tension between the individual and the team is managed across time and what effects that has. So, the instruments I have found are very team-y, and not so much about perceptions of learning, role of teacher vs. student, etc.. I also used Goldstein's Big Five Personality inventory (Openness, Conscientiousness, Extraversion, Agreeability, Neuroticism). For what it's worth, I dug around and found two that I got from Warren Watson which I think he developed in collaboration with Larry. They've both been used in published research and they're both attached. Warren gave me permission to share these, but if you use either of them and wind up publishing, please be sure to give credit where credit is due. Warren told me "I've been dissatisfied with most cohesiveness measures because they're too simplistic and transparent. The group style instrument is about as good as any. I also put together another set of items that were used in our 1991 article and some additional items that came from the cognitive and affective conflict stuff by Amason." (1) TEAM-STYLE INVENTORY Used in: Watson, W. E., Johnson, L., Kumar, K., & Critelli, J. (1998). Process gain and process loss: Comparing interpersonal processes and performance of culturally diverse and non-diverse teams over time. International Journal of Intercultural Relations, 22(4), 409-430. (2) COHESIVENESS INVENTORY This is the 1991 article to which Warren was referring: Watson, W. E., Michaelsen, L. K., & Sharp, W. (1991). Member competence, group interaction and group decision-making: A longitudinal study. Journal of Applied Psychology, 76(6), 801-809. Warren also said he has been teaching with TBL online for the last few years and collecting this kind of data with the goal of comparing face-to-face data to online data. Should be very interesting! -Michael ________________________________________ From: Team-Based Learning [mailto:[log in to unmask]] On Behalf Of Adalet Baris Gunersel Sent: Tuesday, March 17, 2009 2:31 PM To: [log in to unmask] Subject: regarding surveys on TBL and learning Hello Everyone, I was wondering if there are any surveys you know of that target student perceptions of TBL specifically AND surveys that target students perceptions about learning, education, the role of teacher vs student, etc. Thank you, A.
