I've never worked out such an exercise to my satisfaction, but I think a great second day of class assignment would be short in-class reading(s), and team questions/exercises based on them (following the 3S guidelines, of course).  The topics could even be tangentially related to class - compare/contrast learning and study styles, for example.

Surely they could do a modest assignment.  You could warn them in a
group email before Wed's first class that they have to have their
texts in preparation for a quiz on Fri.  Anna Rubin

I'm trying TBL for the first time this coming fall. The class meets
MWF and the term starts on a Wednesday. I don't think that gives
the students enough time (between Wed and Friday) to do the reading
for the first RAP. I figure I should give them until that next
Monday. So what do I do on Friday?
