Hi all,
I was wondering if anyone had an experience using clickers or student response systems for RAT's??  I have used clickers for a couple years now and have used them in class - they work great to have groups report their results simultaneously.  I have also used clickers for what I call reading quizzes, that are basically the same as RAT's but I have not tried using the clickers for the team answers.  I can manipulate the technology to collect individual answers without showing the results and then use a group component of the software to give the same questions again and present the results  with correct answers indicated and even present the group scores.

One of my concerns is with the number of questions because everyone answers the same question at once and so all individuals are given the same amount of time on each question, so I usually limit the number of questions to 5-6 max.  I also am concerned that this same time limitation (I can give them more time for each question) and strict sequencing of the questions may make it hard for groups to discuss their answers.  I wonder if some groups will not have enough time to discuss their answers while other groups will be sitting there twiddling their thumbs?

My classes are small 20-30 so I don't really need to use the clickers for RATS to reduce grading time but they do save paper.  Any thoughts would be helpful.
