I just found a report on article reference on the web and, although I haven't seen the article itself, I think it probably speaks to the issue of peer evaluations in a very powerful way.  The url is:

Hi

One way around this....maybe...is to  base any grade differential or peer eval mark on difference from the average individual score...so if the group gives everyone 100...they are just average..

Peer Evaluations

My teams are doing peer evaluations.  I am sure they have gotten together and planned how to make sure every student gets the same max evaluation.

For example, please see the two table below. I will not include all 5 evaluations all you have to do is repeat the table 5 times and each person gets 4 evaluations of 100 and one of 85.

This has happened with 14 groups and almost every student.  Maybe, this is fine but it seems to me I should have just started everyone in the class with 97 peer evaluation points.

Any suggestion or does this just happen?

No one except me sees the evaluations.
