'Victims deserve access to medical care': A Canadian nurse on the challenges of responding to sexual violence in conflict settings |
Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) has recently highlighted sexual violence as an urgent health and medical issue in a conflict setting.
This was discussed by Mariko Miller, an emergency nurse and sexual assault nurse examiner in Vancouver, B.C. She has undertaken five medical postings overseas with MSF — most recently in Bentiu, South Sudan, where she was the nursing activity manager at a project that provides clinical care to people affected by war and conflict.

UBC Journalism students win Edward R. Murrow Award |
UBC Journalism students have been honored with a regional Edward R. Murrow Award for their Out of the Shadows project on global mental health treatment.
The Murrow Awards are presented each year by the Radio Television Digital News Association and are one of the highest honors in journalism, recognizing “outstanding achievements in electronic journalism.”
