We redesigned a 4th year course for delivery using TBL in our Pharmacy programme in 2012/13. Our students had, up until then, experienced a combination of mostly lectures and practical classes. Our students took to it very well, we're engaged throughout and provided us with some very favourable feedback. The exams marks also significantly increased on the previous year. 

I used the Team-based Learning Student Assessment Instrument designed by Heidi Mennenga, to make an assessment of how they made the comparison between TBL and traditional methods. The results showed a strong preference for TBL over traditional lectures. See links below for further details on Heidi's work:

The vast majority of students preferred learning using TBL. A couple of quotes from the end of course questionnaire are below:

"It has been so good and rewarding to the point that I'm recommending that the rest of our programme is delivered this way. It almost makes me want to be a 1st year again" [NB. our new programme is delivered predominantly by TBL from year 1]

"Thoroughly enjoyed this way of learning and I feel a bit cheated that it's only just been introduced in our 4th year"
