Kathy: Reading the Team Learning ListServ, many teachers using TL do not include a RAT before every session.  They find that if every session starts with a RAT, the students become fatigued from all the quizzes.  Instead, the include a RAT before most but not all of the sessions.  When they don't start a session with a RAT, generally they pick up on previously covered content and continue exercises to extend and elaborate the learning.  Gordon

Subject: A small practice issue of timing



Dear All,

How do you avoid scheduling a RAT in the class session immediately
following a unit exam or major evaluative Team application exercise? My
students felt it unfair that I would load them with heavy studying one
week and then having to prepare substantial material for a RAT. Do you
find some kind of  "marking-time" or "down-time" activity to give the
students a rest? Or do any of you just plow right through and ignore
students' complaints?
