Hi all,

The Genetics Consortium for Active Teaching -Sequencing (GCAT SEEK) group is running two workshops this summer for faculty from primarily undergraduate or minority-serving colleges and universities. The goal of the workshops is to help faculty develop the expertise in high-throughput DNA sequencing and data analysis needed to develop research-based teaching modules. For teams of faculty (or faculty and students), free or staggeringly low-cost genomic, metagenomic or RNA sequencing of your samples is offered.

I am currently working on developing TBL activities based on 16S rRNA metagenomic analysis of microbial ecosystems, and would love to work with others to develop proposals for the workshop, either in this area, or in any of the other next generation sequencing applications.

The website can be found here http://lycofs01.lycoming.edu/~gcat-seek/workshops.html, and the deadline for applications has been changed to February 1 as of today.

Let me know if you are interested!

Tammy
