At the TBL conference in New Orleans, Sarah Mahler presented a poster on using TBL for a Research Methods course.

Her abstract is here: http://www.tblcmeeting.org/abstract_mahler.htm

And her e-mail is: [log in to unmask]

Have fun and good luck!

Subject: TBL in Marketing and Research Methods courses

Dear TBL practitioners

I want to convert two of my current courses - a course on Services Marketing (+- 70 students) and a course on Research Methods (+- 80 students) - into TBL courses and would like to make contact with colleagues who teach similar courses to exchange ideas. I would specifically appreciate examples of appropriate application exercises to get a sense of how a good application exercise should be structured.

The Services Marketing course runs over 7 weeks with one 3 hour contact session per week. Given that learning groups take some time to develop into effective teams, I am concerned that TBL would not be suitable for the Services Marketing course. I would appreciate your guidance in this regard.

Are there any "team building" activities that I could do early in the Services Marketing course to help the groups to function more effectively?

Kind regards
