Hi Everyone,

I recently stumbled across a copy of the new Team-Based Learning book
and I'm ready to take the plunge for my intro graduate-level
Information Systems Principles course this Fall.

While a major component of TBL, I find little description of class
discussion in the TBL book.  I'd value people's responses to a few
questions:

- Is class discussion following simultaneous reporting just like
normal class discussion, where someone raises their hand and I call
on them (but hopefully with more participation than usual)?  Or have
TBL instructors developed different techniques and approaches to
class discussion.

- The TBL book discusses "Fishbowl Discussions" in Appendix "C" as
part of a team-building exercise in the first class, during which the
students come up with the grade weights.  In fishbowl discussions
each team designates a member who represents the team.  The
designated members from each team debate each other in front of the
class.  Is this the only occasion when one would recommend a fishbowl
discussion, or would people recommend using it more extensively
throughout the semester?

- Are there any references to class discussion in TBL-based classrooms?
