Hi Patricia,
I taught CIS (Programming, A&D, E-commerce, MIS) amongst other IS courses for 9 years before moving into the Management side last year.  TBL, in conjuction with using the 4 S's to design group tasks, was very useful in all my classes.  Even in programming, which was the most individual type of task,  I used the RAT procedure to test their understanding of new logic concepts and basic syntax.  I kept the group work as experiential as possible.
