Members of the TBL Listserv:

I am forwarding on to all of you a Powerpoint slide show that Michael
McInerney put together, about what he did and what happened in some
microbiology courses where he used team-based learning.

He used this for a presentation last spring and recently forwarded a copy
of it to me. I was so impressed that I wanted to share it with other
people interested in TBL.

Part of what is special about what McInerney has done is the way he
assessed the impact of this teaching strategy on: student performance,
retention of content, student attitudes toward the course, etc.
Most of his data is data that we all have available to us but he pulled it
together in a way that provides a model for the rest of us.

A synopsis of McInerney's use of TBL is also on the TBL website
(www.teambasedlearning.org), under "Successful TBL Courses." There is also
a link there to a journal article he published about what he did with TBL
in "Microbial Physiology".

Any comments or reactions??

Dee Fink
