I do not grade activities throughout the module because I want them to be focused on learning and discussion. I encourage them to take risks and remind them that mistakes are part of the process. However, at the end of each module, the teams complete a graded culminating activity. For most modules, students have been working on non-graded, scaffolded, 4S activities for 2-3 weeks. On the last day of the module, the teams are provided a couple of brief case study/application problems with specific questions. The questions are typically open ended and require some discussion and justification for the response. One written response is collected from each team and graded, with all present team members receiving the same grade.
