I've been using the IFATs for years. The newest one have a black strip on the back to prevent the students from holding the forms up and seeing where the stars are. I've found that these sheets last longer. The stash I have has lasted several years. Best to keep them in their original plastic wrap for as long as possible. Reseal them after opening. If you have some that have dried past the point of "scratchability", call Epstein Enterprises. They have replaced them with new ones for us...free of charge.

Subject: Problem with IFAT scratch-off sheets
Hi all - I've been using IFAT scratch-off sheets for the past 8-9 years, and have never had any problem with them. But in my class last week, for the first time, multiple teams found that they were unable to scratch off the silver rectangles without tearing through the paper or just smudging the silver. In either case, they were unable to see whether or not there was a star underneath the silver.
Has anyone else had this problem? I'm wondering if my IFAT sheets have simply reached the end of their shelf life (they're 8-9 years old), such that they will no longer function properly...?
Thanks,
Mark
