Dear Stephanie,

This sounds like the beginning of a great TBL poster on strategies to
engage students in thinking like a policy-maker!

Our wonderful TBL colleagues have shared their strategies to move
students from lower to higher order thinking, grasping complexity and
then assessing the implications in different scenarios.

I'm so glad you asked this question as folks' responses to this email
thread led me to recognize why I've been frustrated this semester in
a class which is typically focused on theory (with juniors to grad
students) and how I didn't always effectively shape the transition
from concept to application for policy-making. I guess that's bound to
happen when classes have a different community project each semester,
but I had not identified this issue effectively in developing the
course. Thanks to everyone for sharing their pedagogical process, this
has been a treat.

Manda
