Dear Elaine: I would encourage you to reconsider the plan to make 4 teams of 3 students. Given that teams of 5-7 are recommended to provide enough intellectual resources and diversity for powerful learning teams, a team of even 4 members can be marginal for solving challenging problems. Three is probably not enough. I would suggest you make 3 teams of 4 members, allowing that 2 teams of 6 will not allow as much opportunity for teams to disagree and debate.
Best regards, paul

I have been using TBL for some time now, but always with teams of 4-6. This semester I have a class with 4 teams of 3 students each. The point at which I usually do my first peer evaluation (formative) is coming up, but with teams this size I am concerned that the feedback will not be anonymous, in that a student may be able to make a pretty good guess about which of their 2 team mates wrote what.
I have checked the archives as I think this has been discussed before, but either it hasn't or I'm not using the right search terms. If anyone has any advice or experience with this situation, I'd appreciate the info.
Thanks
Elaine
