Sharon,

It's great to hear that things are working well for you.  One thing that 
I do to maximize individual preparation is by making the iRAT open 
notes. This encourages reading and note taking before class. Students 
then put their notes away before getting into their groups. Because I 
teach marketing courses, most of the questions are applied, rather than 
just asking them to remember what they read and answers such as 'Because 
it's in the book!".  The application oriented questions have a dramatic 
impact on the group discussions, because they need to talk through and 
justify their opinions. I'm with you, TBL is a winner!
